While traveling home to Ohio from Canada, Nate and Ashley noticed their five-month-old, George, was struggling to breathe. They rerouted to Buffalo, where he was admitted to Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and treated for RSV. After a long, sleepless night, Ashley found comfort in a cup of coffee from the Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart, and soon after, their family found a home away from home with our Ronald McDonald House.
While Ashley stayed by George’s bedside, Nate and their three older children stayed just minutes from the hospital at our House, allowing them to remain together, visit often, and return each night to rest, eat, and play as a family. When George was discharged, they spent one last joyful day together in Buffalo at Explore & More Children’s Museum before the journey home.
Ashley later shared that our House was a blessing and that we truly made a difference in a sweet note (see the note above).
