How do I receive a referral to stay at the House?
Family members must be first referred to the House by a hospital staff member, social worker, nurse or doctor. Talk with the social worker or medical professional and they will contact the Buffalo Ronald McDonald House for availability.
Families who travel a minimum distance of 5 miles to Buffalo for their child’s treatment are eligible to stay at the Buffalo Ronald McDonald House.
Parents and immediate family members of pediatric patients who are undergoing medical treatment for illness or injuries at a Buffalo area hospital. In keeping with the American Academy of Pediatrics, Ronald McDonald House Charities defines “pediatric patient” as those age 21 and younger.

You have to be 18 years or older to stay by yourself.  If you are under the age of 18 years old, a legal guardian over the age of 21 would need to accompany you.

Eligible families stay free of charge.

Our rooms range in size and can accommodate between 1-5 people. Parents/guardians, siblings or essential caregivers who will be directly involved with the daily support of the pediatric patient, are welcome to stay, room capacity permitting.

Siblings of the pediatric patient who are under age 18 are eligible to stay at the Ronald McDonald House with a parent, guardian or responsible adult, but such siblings must be supervised at all times by the parent, guardian or responsible adult.

The House provides donated food items and a fully equipped kitchen that families may use to prepare their meals. Families can also enjoy meals and baked goods prepared by community volunteers. The cheerful and bright dining room provides a place for families to enjoy a home-cooked meal while visiting with other guests.
